Part II: A New Direction.

So, as I last left off, I am not satisfied at the 230 the scale says I weight (well, it says I'm 235 right now. But I think it's just mad because I bought it Walgreen brand batteries instead of Duracell.)  I felt I needed to change my diet. Not that the Caveman diet didn't work. It was just a bit too restricting. It was not something you could be on realistically. I did ok....but every now and then, I'd be force to cheat. I couldn't help it. This is probably the reason it took me so long to lose the last 30 lbs.

"So Esahn, what did you do? For the love of God, I need to know!!!" You're probably thinking right now. Well, I started reading this book called the Four-Hour Body. It's a great book filled with all kinds of really interesting things in the area of self improvement. I, obviously, gravitated to the the weight loss section. The author, Tim Ferriss, Describes an interesting diet called the "Slow-Carb Diet." It is a diet that involves: no breads, no fruit, and cheating once a week (Heaven!). There is more to it, but that is the gist of it.

I also began to tract my eating habits and exercise. I created a excel sheet with a list of things like my meals everyday, my exercise, how many meals I eat, etc. It is very helpful in remembering things to do and figuring if the things I do to lose weight actually work. Anyway, this is my plan so far. I was let you all know how things go as I progress.

Wish me luck!

P.S. Read Four-Hour Body. It's a great book.

Part I :Where I started...

Hey all.

So, like I said in my previous post, I started at the weight of 263 lbs and am currently around the weight of 230 of my ultimate goal of 180. I thought It might be a idea to tell the method of my wight loss and with I still still and no longer use.

After the scale formed a cartoonish grin and laughed while the area around it got dark, I decided it might be a good idea to start weight lifting. I began to lift weight's 3 times a week. They say weight training, a long with cardio, is very beneficial for losing weight because muscle feeds of fat and yada yada.... I know, nothing new to most of you. But an important part nonetheless. Also, I take Tang So Do at Yonsei MA Academy. That has been key to becoming for flexible and great cardio.

The more interesting parts (at least to me), are diet and supplements. For eating, I chose the "Caveman Diet" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paleolithic_diet. The basics are that I would only eat meat, veggies, fruits, and nuts. Excluded were breads, sugars, beans, dairy. You know, anything fun. And as for supplements, I took a daily multi vitamin and whey protein powder. Also, the stuff called Pink Magic and OxyELITE Pro. What did that stuff do? Hell if I know. The cute girl at GNC suggested them and I took her word for it.

Anyway, after a lot of roughing it, I got to 235 lbs......after 6 months. I know this might seem like a good start but I still felt I could have done much better. Realizing I needed to lose another 50 lbs to reach my goal, and that I didn't want to though another summer with a "frowning face" on my chest, I decided to look for was to improve my regiment. After a good luck, I came up with these findings:

  • I was cheating on my diet a lot (Mostly when hanging out with friends).
  • While taking OxyELITE Pro and Pink Magic, I got very jittery and emotional.
  • Even though I would feel Great sometimes, I would crash and feel like shit. Feeling like crap made me want to cheat more.

After a little research (I can't stress how important that is), I found out OxyELITE Pro had enough caffeine to put down a hyena and Pink Magic was making me whimper like a dumped prom date. Also, the supplements was having an effect on me where I would "crash" and feel miserable.

I decided to take another course of action. One that required more careful planning and a better over all feeling. I will tell you that part next time.

To fit in skinny jeans, the new Frontier....

Hey all. For most of my life I have been dealing with being over weight. It had been a problem that had effected me socially and physically. Yet, even after years of being taunted at public pools and empty Valentines Card boxes in Elementary School, I would just Just accepted it. Then came one faithful Halloween.

I have a habit to making a big deal about Halloween. Mainly for the chance to dress up as one of my favorite characters from Comic Books, Movies, etc. This year I went as one of my favorite characters, Batman. I put a reasonably good amount of effort in this costume.I was reasonably pleased with my costume on the day I wore it. The next day, When I got the pictures, is a different story....

I guess I should have expected that from spandex, but I was not happy with the image I saw. I decided to weight myself to see how bad I was off. I weighed at a high 263! Taking drastic action I began going to the gym and taking diet supplements, As of 2/10/11, I got down to a more acceptable weight of 235.

(For better comparison, here is me a 235 w/ the Batman suit on)

Not a bad start. But that was with little documentation. Now, I will try to lose all the rest of the weight till I get to the point of feeling comfortable. This blog will feature all the choices I have done to lose my weight. I thought it would be good to do this to keep documentation and to help anyone like me out there who needs someone besides all the pretty-bodied people on TV to convince you to lose weight (If I do end up as one of those jerks in the future, please try to remember me as I am. Just like Anakin Skywalker. Okay, bad example.)

Anyway, stay tuned and see what happens.
